Meet the Thurston Family

Meet Todd & Tobey Thurston!

The Thurstons went to India to help build a school; they ended up building their family as well!

Mahesh made a special impression on the Thurstons when they went on a mission trip to India to help build a school in 2011.  The visited again in 2012 and Tobey was able to go again in 2013.  Todd & Tobey believe God has called them to adopt Mahesh and they are touched by Mahesh’s humility and his navigation with a partially paralyzed arm. As he waits for his parents to navigate through the adoption process, he is practicing English.

Learn more about the Thurston's journey on their video.

You can be part of bringing Mahesh home with your $1 (or more!) donation.  Partner with them for donations and more information via their website.

Meet the Sell Family!

This amazing family is excited to be growing their family by one more little girl, but the best part is that she is the biological sibling to their youngest little one, who they just adopted 17 months ago! What an amazing thing to be able to welcome this sweet girl into their family, but as you can imagine, adopting a second baby so soon was not only a surprise, but will be financially taxing for the Sells.  Show the love this week by praying for this little girl, sharing their story, and donating a dollar.

Watch their video and hear how Leia joined their family, and how they found out about her little sister.  You'll also meet the rest of the family, and see the love they share.

 Aren't they amazing!

Head on over to this link to donate!

Meet the Hardaway family!

Good Morning!

Is everyone starting to enjoy cooler weather, or did you get hit with the hottest days of the summer just recently like us?  What about school? How many of you have sent your kids off and then embraced the quite, even for just a few moments?

Grab your Monday morning cup of coffee, and meet this fantastic family.

The Hardaway's have a love for adoption knit into their hearts. Melissa was adopted as in infant, and Brian is the big brother of all five of his adopted siblings.  He knows exactly how their two girls, Taylor and Tena feel, waiting in anticipation to bring home their new baby brother.

The Hardaway's home study ready and waiting for a match for a domestic adoption, hopefully a little baby boy!  They have their hearts open to a special needs child, but really just want to find the child God has planned for their family.

You can watch the video, and then hop on over to their blog and read how they've been preparing to bring their third child home.

Welcome the VanKoevering Family!

Meet Shannon and Cameron VanKoevering and their daughters, Tatelynn (18), Quincey (16), and Haidyn (13)!

We are the VanKoevering Family. We are a bunch of girls...and one pretty lucky daddy :] We are excited to be adding one more pretty special little girl!!

It was about two years ago that God laid on our hearts the desire to adopt. We had learned about the many orphans in the Democratic Republic of Congo, and of the horrible things happening in that country. So...we had a plan. Adopt a little boy [or two] from the DRC. But...God had different plans. He said "wait." The agency we had chosen was not open for applications to the DRC, and we needed to save up the money needed for a home study & the application fee. So...we waited.

Fast forward to Spring 2013. We found out about a sweet little girl in Ghana who needed a pretty major surgery to treat her Spina Bifida. We wanted to help and so we supported the fundraiser, and prayed for her. And...found ourselves falling in love with her. First our youngest. Then our middle daughter and then our oldest, who was able to travel to Ghana to meet this sweet girl. Soon we were all head over heals in love with this sweet, sweet girl.

We knew that God was calling us to take the steps to add her to the our family! Making us a household of 5 amazing ladies & and that one pretty lucky daddy!!

Shannon and Cameron are adopting 5 year old girl with Spina Bifida and Club Feet from Ghana. They have passed court and are waiting to travel to pick her up. Follow their adoption journey at their blog or facebook page.

Let's rain down blessings on the VanKoeverings this week! You can help!

1. PRAY for the VanKoeverings, their daughter, and the adoption process.

2. SHARE this post on all your social media!

3. DONATE $1 or more to their adoption at Pure Charity.

Meet the Graney Family!

Happy Monday!

I know, everyone dreads Monday, and the start of their work weeks, but here at Give1Save1, we LOVE Monday's, because we get to introduce you to our new family!

Meet Jesse, Justine, and Payton Graney.

I'll let them tell you a little about themselves:

"We have one biological daughter named Peyton. She was a surprise at the very start of our marriage. And we know now how much of a miracle she is.When we started to try to conceive our second child we had fertility problems we were never aware of. After many treatments and surgeries we were finally told we would no longer be able to have any more biological children. This was hard news, but we have always known that someday we would be adoptive parents so making the decision to adopt was an easy one! And here we are! On one of the most exciting experiences of our lives:)"

They are currently waiting to be matched with a little boy here in the United States.  Let's roll out the carpet, welcome them as our family of the week.

Head on over to their YouCaring page and donate a dollar.  I'm giving up an iced coffee and donating to them instead, would you join me?

You can follow their process in the Facebook group, Bring Baby Graney Home

Have a Happy Monday!

Introducing the Anderson Family

Meet Amber and Micheal Anderson and their children Seth, Evie, and Gillian!

The Andersons are adopting Xing, age 11, and WeiQiang, age 6, from China. Xing had a brain injury either during birth or shortly after. He has hydrocephalus (post operative), brain differences to his right hemisphere, and left side paralysis. WeiQiang has a genetic blood disorder, Beta Thalassemia Major.

Michael & Amber have been married just shy of 14 years. They decided they would have a large family, probably six children, and then, when those children were grown, they would start a new wave of children through adoption. As it turned out, after 3 bio children, biology made that initial plan impossible. Instead of mourning, they moved up their adoption plans! They are certified foster & adoptive parents through their state, but were unable to secure a permanent placement.

They never intended to seek international adoption, but after discovering a special needs adoption site called Reece’s Rainbow completely by chance, they began to research the terrible conditions in foreign orphanages and their hearts were softened that international adoption wasn’t for ‘someday’ when they had more money but that, as MLK said, “The time is always right to do what is right.”

The Bartelt Family

TA. TA.TA!!!
The Bartelt Family already has TA.

TA stands for travel approval.
It's the very last step before booking tickets and
going to get your baby.

Which also means it is crunch time for funding.
So, let's all pull together and send them off without
any extra worries about funding.
They won't need that.
They need to be bonding and attaching
without added and unnecessary stress.
We can do this, right?

Visit their family blog here.

Watch their sweet video here.

Wanna Help Us Build Our Family? from Todd Bartelt on Vimeo.

You can give a tax deductible donation at Reece's Rainbow: http://reecesrainbow.org/77816/sponsorbartelt

HOWEVER,
we just heard the word that they have a matching grant.
So, you can also write a check in any amount to Hand in Hand and it will be doubled! I know, I know it's a few extra steps and
the cost of a stamp.
But, really? We can do this!
A few instructions for Hand in Hand.
1. Do not write the Bartelt on the check. Write the Check to "Hand in Hand Christian Adoptions". Write the Bartelts' name on the back of the envelope you mail in for them.
2. The name really, really needs to be visible.
3. Mail it to this address:

I'm excited to see what the Lord does for them this week through all of you!

Introducing the Hodgson's!!

I met Liz at an Usborne party. What are the chances?
And...
Basically, she is adorable.
Like I want to squish her adorable.

She has this teeny, tiny, sweet voice that makes you
want to sit and listen to her for ages.

So, I did. Well, it wasn't ages. But it was long enough to hear her story.
Long enough for me to tell her to be sure to apply to Give1Save1.
Long enough for me to actually have hug/squished her.

She didn't tell me the entire fam was so delightfully adorable!
Squishing those kiddo's is now on my bucket list.
Behold, the cuteness!!!

They have such a sweet spirit in their family and
I love their hearts for adoption.
Right now they are headed to adopt a newborn in the next week and a half. They are hoping to use the funds from this week to cover some travel expenses.
They are praying for $1,000.
We can handle that, right?
Let's wipe that $1,000 right off for them!

First: Watch the video

Second: Copy and paste the link of the blog into your facebook, twitter, pinterest, google plus, wherever and however you want, but share it! Tell their story and ask your friends to help by donating $1

Third: Donate to their adoption fund by giving $1 through this link.

The Wong Family!!

Take a look at what God is doing through the Wong family!!  They have already been thrown a few curveballs in this adoption. They not only are being blessed with not one but TWO children, but the Philippines is also requiring that these children be hosted for the summer before the adoption can be completed. Whoa. Those are some crazy amazing blessings, but also crazy expensive curveballs.

Orphaned NO more. Bring our son and daughter home! from haidee wong on Vimeo.

I'm really excited to be a part of their journey and a part of the adoption of these two kids.

I know we usually only ask for $1 but I'm going to ask you to dig just a little deeper this week. If you only have $1 then please don't let this stop you but if you have $3 or $5 or even $10 let's put that towards this adoption.

Here is their Donation site:

Meet the Huizenga family!

For many of you, this is the first full week of summer.  Can we kick it off with a bang?!?

Let me introduce this fun family, Chris, Erin, and their handsome guy Knox.  They are in the process of adopting an infant domestically.  I have never met them, and feel like I wish they were our neighbors! Once you watch their video, you'll see why! They look like they have so much fun, and love being adventurous with one another.

They are just finishing up the process to become active with their agency, and are praying that they will be matched by the end of the year.  Can you help them get one step closer to helping Knox become a big brother?  You know how to do it! Click on over to their Pure Charity page and donate a dollar this week.

If you'd like to keep up with them as they travel through the process, check out their tumblr blog.

Say Hello to the Collins Family

I am so excited to introduce you to our family of the week, Sandia and KC Collins, and their two boys, Caedmon and Oliver! The Collins are adopting a 4 1/2 yr. old girl from Ethopia! Follow their blog to keep up with their adoption story as it unfolds. http://selahtheartofthepause.blogspot.com/?m=1

Click Here to donate $1 to help the Collins bring their daughter home.

Sandia shared this about their adoption:

My husband and I have been married for 8 years. We have 2 biological kiddos. Caedmon is just 2 weeks shy of 7 and Oliver is 5.

We began praying about expanding our family in October of 2010. After confirmation from The Lord, we mailed off our first piece of paperwork on my 24th birthday. We were just 5 days shy of being in this process for 3 years when we finally got a call from our coordinator. To say we were ecstatic is definitely an understatement! This had been 3+ years in the making. We had changed our age range from 0-2, increasing it each year until fall of 2013 when we increased it up to 5. We just wanted her to be younger than our youngest. They are 1 day short of being 8 months apart in age.

It's has been a long process, but God has shown us His faithfulness throughout the entire journey. We've grown stronger in God and my husband and I have grown closer to each other.

We cannot wait to have our little Bertie home and become a family of 5. ❤️

Meet the Sheahen Family!

Adoption is a journey. Jonathan, Shawna, Silas, Eli, and Cooper have been on this journey for a year and a half so far... a journey to Lulah! They named her in June of last year while they were still in the waiting stages of being matched.

Fast forward 9 months. It was just another night of checking to see if any new children had come on to the waiting list and there she was. Her name... Lullah!  What are the chances!

I can only imagine it was one of those God moments that left their jaws on the floor :) Before they could get their jaws back in place, the agency they are working with sent them photos of a few other kids waiting at the same orphanage and. there. she. was. Jovia! This news is SO new that Jovia didn't even make it into the video. God is blessing them with a double portion!! Isn't He good!

This may be your first time here so I am going to review how this works. Every Monday we are going to ask you for a dollar. We’re going to tell you who it’s going to and what it’s being used for. This week is the Sheahen Family and their adoption of two sweet girls! We’re mostly funding adoption for the people, by the people. The premise is for lots of people to give a little and let it all add up!....And your dollar will be saving and restoring lives in all kinds of ways. Removing a child from an orphanage gives that child a family and a future, something everyone needs. It also frees up a bed in an orphanage for another child.

Here's our family's video!!

All right, my friends. Did you do it? Give your dollar and help bring home, not one, but TWO little beauties and place them in the arms of their Momma and Daddy!!

Watch! Click here and the donate button is on the right... scroll down just a bit! Share with the world so they can help bring orphans home too!

From the family:

"We have been making reclaimed wood crosses and vintage map scripture prints to raise money and will have a bunch of them on our blog to sell this week and will be having a giveaway for one!"

Check out their blog www.loveforlulah.com for more information, to follow the family, and to donate!

Thank you everyone!!

Desiree
